Jack Miller could be one of the big casualties in the 2025 MotoGP rider market. He entered the year vulnerable after signing a one-year deal at Pramac.
Miller’s performances have been solid so far. He’s the second-highest-ranking Yamaha in the world championship, albeit level on points with Alex Rins.
However, Yamaha saw the opportunity for a sensational reunion with Toprak Razgatlioglu, the two-time World Superbikes champion. Razgatlioglu can’t race for the factory team due to his ties with Red Bull – a rival to title sponsors Monster Energy.
Thus the Turkish superstar has slotted into Pramac, where he’ll replace either Miller or Miguel Oliveira. Though he signed a two-year contract, Oliveira isn’t meeting a performance clause.
The Portuguese isn’t guaranteed to see out his deal if he remains fourth in the Yamaha mini-league. After missing four races due to injury, he’s 28 points behind Rins and Miller.
Paolo Pavesio reveals when Jack Miller’s future will be resolved
On the current grid, only Marc Marquez (197) and Maverick Vinales (188) have made more MotoGP appearances than Miller (185). He’s a four-time Grand Prix winner with 22 podiums to his name.
In an interview with GPOne at the Emilia Romagna round of the World Superbikes championship, Paolo Pavesio was asked about the rider line-up ‘evaluations’ taking place at Yamaha.
“Before the summer break, you will know the name,” he said of Razgatlioglu’s future teammate.
RACE | DATES |
Italian GP | 20-22 June |
Dutch TT | 27-29 June |
German GP | 11-13 July |
Czech GP | 18-20 July |
This comes after Pramac boss Gino Borsoi said Miller and Oliveira can still ‘demonstrate their value’. There are four races remaining before the summer break, starting in Mugello next weekend.
Yamaha have privately told Miller he has one month to prove his worth, as Pavesio has hinted. He was 14th at Aragon last weekend, a track that didn’t suit the M1.
Toprak Razgatlioglu could partner a brand-new rider at Pramac
The assumption is that it will be either Miller or Oliveira next to Razgatlioglu. But it’s possible that Yamaha could let both riders go.
Indeed, paddock rumours suggest Enea Bastianini could join Pramac for next year. Bastianini joined Tech3 on a two-year deal after leaving Ducati, but he appears to be unhappy.
If that happens, Miller will have to continue his racing career elsewhere. He could end up swapping paddocks with Razgatlioglu.
Indeed, one report claims that Honda could offer Miller a three-year WSBK deal. They want his close friend Cal Crutchlow, currently a Yamaha test rider, to head up the project.
