“They Took The Biggest Ticket-Seller Out”: John Fury’s Statements On Tyson’s Usyk Losses And A Potential Trilogy
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

John Fury claims that his son, Tyson Fury, deserved to win his two fights against Oleksandr Usyk, but the judges “stole” it from him. He says that the people who pay Fury (34-2-1, 24 KOs) “probably” couldn’t “afford to pay Tyson” the same amount of dough if he’d kept his title in the first fight.

The way he’s performed lately, he’d never beat any of the top contenders to get the golden trilogy payday. Fury is already filthy rich. I don’t know why he would need a third payday against Usyk.

Tyson looks completely washed at 37, and would be food for contenders. With a 0-2 record in his last two fights, Fury doesn’t deserve a world title shot against Usyk. That’s not fair to the contenders to have Tyson keep getting chances given to him without him going to the back of the line.

The “Stolen” Fights

“He had his belts stole off him, didn’t he? They took the biggest ticket-seller out of the game. If you want the mega-bucks, you’ve got to include the Gypsy King,” said John Fury to Secondsout, talking about Tyson Fury losing his WBC heavyweight title to Oleksandr Usyk last year in May in their first fight. “When someone has paid you a [ton] of money, they seem to resent letting you stay champion, don’t they?”

John is really reaching here, isn’t he? He’s implying that the financial investment played a role in the judges not giving him the decision. Fans agreed with the decisions handed down by the judges in both Fury-Usyk fights. They saw Fury get rocked to his boots in the first fight and be saved by the referee when he was out on his feet in the ninth round of their first fight.

“For my money, they probably didn’t want to pay him the same amount of money again,” John continued. “Probably couldn’t afford to pay Tyson the same money again if he’d have let him remain champion. He wasn’t in the best of shape for the second one. For me, he [Fury] won both fights. For the first one, he needed more rest. He’d overtrained. There was nothing left of him.”

Blame Deflection

Notice the excuses from John? This is classic denial. He’s trying to shield Fury from being seen as a loser. He’s painting Fury as the victim to get some sympathy from the fans and motivate them to push for the trilogy. There’s no demand for that fight, but if enough gullible fans believe that Gyspy King was robbed, it’ll create interest.

By squawking about how Fury was robbed, John helps create the false narrative that he was done an injustice. If John can make fans believe there was a robbery, Fury wouldn’t need to risk his hide against one of the top contenders to earn a third lucrative mega-millions fight against Usyk.
