Teofimo’s Turki Beef: No Apology!

Teofimo Lopez may have permanently burned a bridge with Turki Alalshikh by trolling him on social media, saying he won’t “apologize,” and making gay jokes. Whatever chance WBO light welterweight champion Lopez had of repairing his working relationship with Turki, he may have ruined it today with this latest video.

Teofimo mentioned Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, telling Turki he wants to “love you so good. All Diddy.” Lopez added that he would “hold” Turki’s “hand like Crawford did.”

Lopez not only went after Alalshikh, but also brought Crawford into this to make him look bad. There is still bad blood between Teofimo and Crawford after his efforts to secure a fight against Crawford were ignored. Hence, we see Teo dragging Crawford into his feud with Turki.

Mental Health Concerns & CTE Fears

Some fans on social media think Teofimo (22-1, 13 KOs) has lost his mind and is showing signs of CTE. They feel that he has become a mental basket case ever since his loss to George Kambosos Jr. in 2021, which is when he appeared to change, becoming erratic both inside and outside the ring.

“We don’t apologize! We just show love. I love you, Turki. I want to love you so good, Turki. All Diddy! [Gives a wink] I’ll hold your hand like [Terence] Crawford did,” said Teofimo Lopez on social media, trolling Turki Alalshikh.

What Teofimo is doing is one of the worst things. Turki lives in Saudi Arabia, and Lopez is trying to make him look bad with his clash-and-burn approach to their relationship. He clearly wants Alalshikh to feel pain as well as he does.

Blackballed After Turki Feud?

Even if Lopez were to apologize to Turki, it’s likely too late to repair what’s been done with this latest salvo from the New York native. Teofimo’s behavior could lead to him being blackballed. If you’re a promoter, do you want to deal with someone like this, who’s going to criticize and alienate when he doesn’t get his way?
