Teofimo Jr.’s Racist Slur, Father’s Tirade, And A Turn To Ennis After Lackluster Win

Teofimo Lopez Jr. and his father, Teo Sr., both were throwing Terence Crawford’s name around during a workout. WBO light welterweight champion Lopez (22-0, 13 KOs) repeatedly used a racist term when referring to Crawford, asking where he’s at. Teofimo Sr. labeled Crawford a “B****” for not agreeing to fight his son.

Crawford has shown zero interest in fighting Teofimo, because there’s no money in that fight. Lopez isn’t a PPV attraction. Terence is getting a reported $100 million to fight Canelo Alvarez on September 12th. If he wins, he might get a similar payday in the rematch.

Teo’s New Shakur-esque Style

Lopez Sr. says they now want to face IBF and WBA welterweight champion Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis next. It’s questionable whether they’ll get that fight. Teofimo looked terrible last Friday, using his new Shakur Stevenson-like defensive style to move around the ring on Turki Alalshikh’s event at Times Square.

Lopez’s performance was almost as boring as Devin Haney’s. It was just movement, showboating, and a trickle of punches. It was a junk style and did nothing to entertain the small, carefully selected VIP crowd. Teofimo won the fight by a 12-round unanimous decision by the scores 116-112, 116-112, and 118-110.

That performance showed that he doesn’t belong fighting anyone better than that level of fighter. Moreover, Teofimo is not PPV material with his Shakur-esque fighting style that he’s adopted because fans want to be entertained for their money and not feel ripped off after watching an entire night of running.

Father-Son Tirade

Teofimo Lopez Sr: “We want Boots next. We want to be a three-time lineal. F*** Crawford, too. That mother f***** did it at 36. My son did it at 25,” said Lopez Sr. to Fighthype. “Hate him or love him, we’re in the books, baby. He’s already a Hall of Famer. He could lose a 100 fights and still be a Hall of Famer.

“Crawford just did what my son did at 25. The sky’s the limit. We still got 12, 13, 14 more years to go. That b**** Crawford doesn’t want to fight us. He’s a b****. ”

Teofimo Lopez Jr: “Where’s that [N-word] at? Where’s that [N-word] at?”

Lopez Sr: “I seen his [Crawford] legs in his last fight. Them s*** is gone. He’s just trying to cash out. Let him start jabbing Canelo. He’s going to get knocked out just like Amir Khan. I guarantee you that. All you fools who think Crawford is going to win. Are you out of your mind? That boy has got no legs. He looked like s*** in his last fight [ against Israil Madrimov]. We made Barboza look like nothing, and he was coming from three big fights.”
