Si Woo Kim had lots of reasons to smile on Friday — an ace and seven-under 64.

Si Woo Kim has been here before, making history on par-3s at major golf tournaments. Like last year, at the 2024 Open Championship, when Kim aced the 238-yard par-3 17th hole at Royal Troon during the third round. That set a record as the longest hole-in-one in major history.
Then on Friday, at the 2025 PGA Championship? Kim broke it again.
Playing the 252-yard par-3 6th hole at Quail Hollow Club, Kim grabbed a 5-wood, hit a fade into the center of the green and watched his ball land, bounce and roll out, finally dropping into the cup for an ace and the record for longest hole-in-one at a major (again).
He tossed his club into the air and ran off the tee box screaming.
According to the PGA Tour, Kim’s six aces in PGA Tour play are the most since 2016. He also becomes the first player with a hole-in-one at a major in back-to-back seasons since Scott Hoch, who did it at the 2001 PGA and 2002 U.S. Open.
But the even better news for Kim? The 29-year-old pro shot a seven-under 64 and sits in a tie for second after 36 holes. He’s six under, two back of leader Jhonattan Vegas. Scottie Scheffler is lurking three off the lead, while a ton of other stars were sent home early.
“It’s just still Friday,” Kim said. “I just played two good rounds, but still a lot of work to do. Then especially the weekend is going to be more hotter and then more tense. I’m just going to try to play my golf and just try to have fun.”
