Marc Marquez has been equisite to start the 2025 MotoGP season and still finds himself trailing his brother by one point in the title race.
The six-time champion has managed to produce the level of performance that some feared he might be able to on a dominant Ducati machine.
Marquez has been miles ahead of teammate Francesco Bagnaia, but the Spaniard has been prone to the odd mistake. He’s only made two this year, but they have been big ones.
Most recently, the 32-year-old crashed out of the Grand Prix of Spain while fighting in the early stages. He recovered to 12th by the finish, but it was an alarming second fall in three races.
After a solid start to their working relationship, Davide Tardozzi insists people were wrong about Marquez and has mentioned that his two riders complement each other well.
Marquez has been surprised by the ‘polished’ Bagnaia after showing signs of having some fight in him at Jerez. He should only grow in confidence with every battle.

Ramon Forcada criticises Marc Marquez for ‘dangerous’ move during the Spanish Grand Prix
While mistakes are frustrating, Marquez has shown incredible determination by getting back onto his bike both times after crashing out. In COTA, he didn’t even have a foot peg left.
The 12th he managed at his home event in Jerez brings points that could be crucial down the line, particularly if he fails to limit his errors.
Speaking to MowMag, Ramon Forcada mentioned that it wasn’t a safe move to continue racing after such a big incident.
“Before a season or the first race, there are technicians who examine the bike and establish whether it is safe to race,” he said.
“When you fall, the bike is inevitably no longer the same and a crashed bike can be dangerous: Marc Marquez did not do something that was exactly safe in Jerez.”

Who is Marc Marquez’s biggest rival for the 2025 MotoGP title?
With nearly 25% of the season already behind us, there’s a clear picture at the front of the pack. With Jorge Martin’s extended recovery, it’s also certain that there will be a new champion.
Alex Marquez has been told he’s mentally stronger than Marc, but he still lacks a bit of outright pace. He’s yet to beat him in 2025 without his own misjudgment.
Theoretically, Bagnaia as his teammate and a multiple premier class champion should’ve been his biggest threat, but he just isn’t comfortable on the GP25 at all yet.
Particularly in dirty air, which Marquez has faced little of due to being at the front all the time, the Italian rider has struggled to find pace and make the moves required to win.
