Marc Marquez has been a dominant force in the 2025 MotoGP season. He leads the championship by 22 points heading into the British Grand Prix.
The six-time MotoGP champion has won nine of the 12 races so far, winning every Sprint race in the opening six rounds. Marquez suffered crashes in Austin and Jerez, but it has not affected him too much as he holds a steady lead heading into Silverstone this weekend.
Marquez has dominated Ducati teammate Francesco Bagnaia as he leads the Italian by 51 points. Bagnaia is struggling on the GP25, with the GP24 riders finding better performance.
Gresini rider Alex Marquez has been his brother Marc’s closest challenger in 2025. The Spaniard has finished in the top two in all but two races this year, winning his first MotoGP race at Jerez.
Marc Marquez says the brothers are ‘even more tight’ as they fight each other for the title. Not many would have expected Alex Marquez to be a championship contender in 2025, but Neil Hodgson thinks the duo have a plan.
Neil Hodgson thinks Marc Marquez is using brother Alex to pull away from Francesco Bagnaia in ‘bizarre’ tactic
Alex Marquez says Marc is ‘still superior’ as he is setting the tone with Ducati. But the Gresini rider has proved stronger than his brother’s teammate Bagnaia; he has a lot more confidence on the GP24.
The Marquez brothers have recorded eight 1-2 finishes so far in 2025. Speaking during FP1 on TNT Sports 2 (23/5, 11:56am), Hodgson thinks Marc Marquez is using Alex to win the title in a ‘bizarre’ tactic.
“Part of it, because we’ve watched all of the races, they are working together. It’s bizarre,” he said,
“You’re watching the Marquez brothers work together, weirdly, even though they are obviously one and two in the championship.
“But I genuinely feel like, part of it is working together to try and pull Alex closer to Marc, to pull him away from Pecco.
“That’s another element to it. Obviously, goal number one: win the world championship. Goal number two: make sure my brother beats my teammate and finishes second. And so far, the plan’s working.”

Can Alex Marquez keep up his title challenge in 2025?
Alex Marquez’s first MotoGP win at Jerez proved he has found another gear in 2025. The 28-year-old had struggled to find consistency in the premier class, with multiple crashes hindering him.
Mistakes have persisted in 2025, however. Marquez crashed twice at Le Mans as he registered his first non-points finish of the season.
Sylvain Guintoli still has faith in Alex Marquez despite being ‘caught’ out at Le Mans. He has proven several times this season that he can battle Marc Marquez on track.
Marc Marquez expects Alex to be faster at Silverstone, with the circuit suiting his riding style. With 22 points between them, the Gresini rider has more than enough time to regain the championship lead.
