Marco Bezzecchi won the MotoGP British Grand Prix to hand Aprilia a timely boost at Silverstone amid Jorge Martin trying to leave the Noale squad after the 2025 season.
The Italian squad hit refresh last winter, as Bezzecchi and Martin arrived at Aprilia to replace Aleix Espargaro and Maverick Vinales. But while they both agreed to sign two-year contracts to swap from VR46 and Pramac respectively, Martin has confirmed he wants to leave Aprilia.
Despite Martin only entering one round so far this year, having suffered complex fractures in his left hand due to a Supermoto crash in pre-season and also a hemopneumothorax plus 11 broken ribs on his return in Qatar, the 27-year-old wants to trigger the exit clause in his deal.
Martin hopes to return from injury before the summer break, with the German Grand Prix at the Sachsenring on July 11-13 widely seen as a best-case option. Yet the Spaniard’s desire to move teams dominates many headlines now that Martin has an agreement to join Honda.
Massimo Rivola has ‘no doubts’ that Marco Bezzecchi can repeat Aprilia’s British Grand Prix win
Martin’s desire to leave Aprilia also dominated the talk heading to Silverstone and also after Bezzecchi won the British GP from 10th on the grid. It was Aprilia’s first win in 2025 and has moved the Italian up to seventh in the riders’ championship with 69 of the crew’s 77 points.

Aprilia CEO Massimo Rivola also has ‘no doubts’ that Bezzecchi can repeat his British GP win when the 2025 MotoGP calendar hits other tracks that suit the Noale outfit, like Silverstone. But Rivola also admits that Aprilia need to improve their qualifying to make the races easier.
“I’m very happy for Bez,” Rivola has told Moto.it. “I had no doubts that he would win. I’ll tell you, I have no doubts that he will win again.
“We still have to get ourselves right, especially in some phases like qualifying, because let’s not forget that he started 10th and 11th in the Sprint. So, it’s good to make good comebacks, but you don’t always have circuits and performances that allow you to do it.
“So, we definitely have to get ourselves right. We both know it. It will take time, but the learning curve is significant, so I’m definitely very optimistic.”
Massimo Rivola’s optimism contrasts with Jorge Martin’s concerns about Aprilia’s bike

The optimism that Rivola now holds due to Bezzecchi’s British GP win at Silverstone last time out rather contrasts with Martin’s concerns about Aprilia’s 2025 MotoGP bike, which fuelled the Spaniard’s desire to leave the Noale squad already despite only appearing at one round.

Martin used his injury lay-offs to assess the performance of Aprilia’s RS-GP25 at the hands of Bezzecchi plus Trackhouse’s Ai Ogura and Raul Fernandez. Yet the 2024 riders’ champion does not believe their bike is at the standard Aprilia promised him during their negotiations.
Bezzecchi’s win at Silverstone also came too late to influence his stance. While Aprilia do not believe Martin’s exit clause is valid due to his injuries, the Madrid native had to be in the top three of the 2025 standings after the French Grand Prix to nullify the exit clause in his terms.
