Marc Marquez continued his amazing record at the Grand Prix of Aragon with victory in the Sprint race.
The Ducati rider has won all but one Sprint in 2025, only finishing second behind brother Alex at Silverstone. Marquez is the most successful rider at Aragon with six races, and he has continued that dominance at the circuit this weekend.
The Spaniard topped every practice session on his way to his fifth pole position of the season. Marquez was almost a second quicker than the field in FP1, before beating Alex Marquez to pole by just under three tenths.
Johann Zarco cannot understand Marquez’s pace at Aragon, summing up how the rest of the grid must be feeling. He continued to display his strong performance in the Sprint on Saturday, but his victory was not as smooth as he may have hoped.
Marc Marquez concerned by how his Ducati lost the lead at the start of Aragon Sprint
With brother Alex and Franco Morbidelli alongside him on the front row. Marquez was overtaken by the pair off the start. KTM’s Pedro Acosta got a run on the Ducati rider at turn one, dropping him temporarily to fourth.
The Spaniard fought back through the field to win the race, but the start has left him worried ahead of the Grand Prix on Sunday. Speaking to DAZN, via quotes from Marca, Marquez ‘wasn’t expecting’ to lose the lead as he hopes to ‘adjust’ the issue on Sunday.
“I was counting on Álex to be strong, but I wasn’t expecting us to fail at the start, because I usually get a good start, but he slid from the rear, which is harder to control,” he said.
“Tomorrow is one of the points where we need to adjust a little. That helped me make up ground. Behind Álex, my front tire got really hot.
“That’s why I took it easy, not wanting to overtake him in two laps, but rather gradually, looking for the moment, when those tires were going down, which is when I feel most comfortable, and that’s what we did.
“Then, until the end, we had to maintain the pace we’ve had all weekend, those 1:47s, and not overdo it. Tomorrow, it’s time to be just as focused.”

Can anyone stop Marc Marquez at Aragon?
The Ducati rider has been on another level at Aragon, with him even addressing a ‘post-injury’ issue to display stronger performance.
Neil Hodgson has noticed Marquez looks ‘comfortable’ through right-handers, having struggled in the past due to the serious injuries to his right arm in a crash at Jerez in 2020.
The anti-clockwise nature of the Aragon circuit is perfect for Marquez’s riding style, but his start to the Sprint will be something he needs to address, especially when brother Alex has been strong all weekend.
Alex Marquez has been told to stop making ‘little errors’ if he wants to beat his brother Marc, having crashed before qualifying. The Gresini rider will be looking to spoil the party on Sunday and grab his second win of the season.
