Jack Miller once again faces an uncertain future in MotoGP after Yamaha announced double World Superbikes champion Toprak Razgatlioglu will ride for Pramac in 2026.
The Australian was almost thrown on the scrapheap last year after KTM opted against giving Miller a new contract upon promoting Pedro Acosta to take his seat. In the end, only Pramac leaving Ducati to become Yamaha’s new satellite team ultimately offered him a seat in 2025.
But the 30-year-old has more than risen to the challenge of Yamaha giving Miller a one-year factory contract to prove himself on their YZR-M1. The Townsville, Queensland native is the second-best performing Yamaha rider in the 2025 MotoGP season with Miller on 31 points.
Only factory rider Fabio Quartararo has more points on the M1 than Miller this year with his 59 so far. Alex Rins has also joined Miller on 31 points after taking his seventh-straight point-scoring Grand Prix finish in the Aragon GP. Miller got his fifth points finish of 2025 at Aragon.
Jack Miller could replace Alex Rins in 2026 after impressing Yamaha by developing the M1
Yet as Miller is out of contract at the end of 2025 while Quartararo, Rins and Miguel Oliveira have contracts for 2026, the Pramac pilot is at risk of the chop after Yamaha announced the signing of Razgatlioglu. The two-time World Superbikes champion will join Pramac in 2026.
But Fox Sports Australia now suggests that Miller might still land on his feet, despite Yamaha signing Razgatlioglu to join Pramac, by replacing Rins in the factory crew next term. The 29-year-old has been out-qualified by Quartararo at all eight races this year and could be let go.

Rins is still feeling the effects of breaking his right tibia and fibula at the 2023 Italian GP and has struggled to adapt to the M1 since joining Yamaha in 2024. So, questions over his future are growing, with Miller also impressing Yamaha ‘behind the scenes’ by developing their M1.
Yamaha have taken full advantage of Miller’s experience riding Honda, Ducati and KTM bikes over the past 10 seasons to develop the M1. His clear feedback and technical direction have been just what Yamaha required, and might only be truly appreciated if Miller were to leave.
So, as Yamaha could tear up Rins’ contract for 2026, Miller might be given a one-year deal to join their factory line-up, as Razgatlioglu’s personal Red Bull sponsorship deal prevents him from partnering Quartararo. It would then let Yamaha review their riders for the 2027 term.
Jack Miller’s MotoGP future may hinge on Yamaha releasing Alex Rins or Miguel Oliveira

Miller would be unfortunate to lose out in the Yamaha rider merry-go-round as Razgatlioglu joins Pramac after his performances since joining from KTM this year. Retirements in Qatar, at Jerez and in France tarnish his record, which features P5 in America and P7 at Silverstone.

He could yet get another season at Pramac beside Razgatlioglu in 2026, as Yamaha included a performance-based release clause in Oliveira’s contract. But the chance to join the works Yamaha team would surely appeal if the Iwata squad can terminate Rins’ contract for 2026.
Rins and Oliveira, based on his performances in the first half of 2025 which have also been impacted by injury, both have contracts for 2026. So, with Honda offering Miller a move to World Superbikes in 2026, his MotoGP future might hinge on Yamaha axing a fellow rider.
