It’s hard to see anyone other than Marc Marquez winning the 2025 MotoGP championship currently, after an electric start to the season.
The Ducati rider has a 32-point lead, despite making two critical mistakes in Grands Prix during the first third of the campaign. He could easily have 30-40 more points against his name.
But it won’t faze Marquez much, as he knows how long the calendar is. There are going to be plenty more opportunities for him to reach the top step.
The GP25 only appears to work well in his hands and if that trend continues, it’s hard to see anyone, including his brother who has been super impressive too, beating him.
After a dominant performance, Marquez broke an incredible 10-year feat by topping every session all weekend at the last race in Aragon. The last rider to do that was himself at the 2015 German Grand Prix.
His approach to the weekend was calculated. Marquez proved he’s ‘desperate’ to avoid crashing in Aragon by not pushing 100% on Sunday. He wants to get the title sealed as soon as possible.

Franco Morbidelli doesn’t believe that Marc Marquez is telling the truth about his Ducati bike
Marquez may have solved a ‘post-injury’ problem by looking more comfortable than ever in right-hand corners this year. He seems ready to tackle any challenge thrown at him.
However, he has taken the time to downplay the machinery he’s on, claiming that he’s on a modified version of the GP24 at times.
According to David Emmett, his Ducati satellite colleague at VR46, Franco Morbidelli, rubbished the claims in Aragon.
“Because he’s not, he’s riding a GP25,” said Emmett on the Paddock Pass Podcast. “What they’ve done, I’ve said this before. The GP25, they want to get more power so they’ve changed the weight distribution and the changes that they’ve made they’ve then tried to compensate for by matching the geometry to the GP24.
“In Silverstone, he had a new chassis, but he was back to the old chassis here. He’s playing mind games. But everyone was calling b——- on him. It wasn’t just me calling b——- on him, Franco Morbidelli was calling b——-, he said I’ve raced against him, no way is that a GP24.”

Is Kevin Schwantz right about Marc Marquez and Ducati in MotoGP?
There have been some of the most exciting MotoGP races in recent history this year, but there have also been some processions.
It’s why Kevin Schwantz says Marquez makes MotoGP ‘boring’ after watching him dominate from the front at many events this year.
He has won seven of the eight sprint races on offer and been in contention for victory at virtually every race apart from the British Grand Prix. Even in that, he led before crashing in the first of two races.
Fans have the rest of this year and 2026 to look forward to before a regulations reset could see the field order jumbled up again. It may be that long before Marquez is stopped.
