The Red Bull Ring – formerly known as both the Österreichring and the A-1 Ring – plays host to round 11 of the 2025 Formula 1 season as the sport rolls into the Styrian mountains. One of the best organized races on the calendar, the Austrian Grand Prix is also one of the most popular for trackside camping, largely due to its rural location some distance from the closest major city of Graz. After hosting F1’s Sprint format for the last three seasons, Austria loses out to the Belgian Grand Prix in 2025 and will not host an F1 sprint race.

Heading to Spielberg for the first time? All the essential travel information you need is in Travel Basics.

2025 Austrian Grand Prix Tickets Selling Fast

Tickets for the Austrian Grand Prix normally go on sale almost 12 months in advance, and this year was no exception. With early-bird pricing on offer in the first phase of ticket sales, strong demand has seen many of the most popular ticket categories sell out quickly. The good news is that almost all grandstands, as well as General Admission, benefit from excellent trackside views at one of the F1 calendar’s most compact and picturesque circuits. We also recommend F1 Experiences Ticket Packages. 3-day Champions Club and Paddock Club Packages are now on sale for 2025. Click the buttons below to check availability and prices

Big Crowds Expected at the 2025 Austrian Grand Prix

Post-pandemic, attendance at the Austrian Grand Prix has been growing thanks to the addition of a number of new grandstands. The 2024 Austrian Grand Prix welcomed a crowd of 302,000 over three days, a similar number to the last two editions of the race. The Austrian Grand Prix was one of 11 races to have an attendance of 300,000 or higher in 2024 – a figure which is expected to be exceeded again over the three-day event weekend in 2025.

Where to Stay for the 2025 Austrian Grand Prix

Alongside Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, the Red Bull Ring is one of the few surviving European circuits that’s not close to a major city. The rural location of the circuit close to the town of Spielberg makes trackside camping a popular choice for the Red Bull Ring. The weather is generally a lot better than in Belgium, too. If you prefer your creature comforts, there’s a good selection of places to stay in the largest nearby city, Graz, which is about an hour’s motorway drive from the Red Bull Ring. Alternatively, you may get lucky finding accommodation in nearby smaller towns such as Knittelfeld, Zeltweg or Leoben.

How Much You Will Spend on a Trip to the Red Bull Ring

Despite rising ticket prices, the Austrian Grand Prix is still one of the cheaper races to attend on the current calendar, offering the 11th cheapest tickets overall in 2024. The Austrian Grand Prix remains great value for money, however, when compared to other European venues on the calendar.

General Admission tickets in Austria still rank amongst the cheapest of the season, despite increasing to €150 for 3-day tickets in 2025 . Tickets are also relatively inexpensive for local residents, costing just over 10% of the average monthly income – the fifth most affordable of the year in 2024.

We estimate that the average fan will spend €995 ($1,140 USD) on a trip to the 2025 Austrian Grand Prix, including grandstand seats, accommodation and spending money. Budget Planner has the full breakdown on what you can expect to spend on a trip to the Red Bull Ring in 2025

Getting to the Red Bull Ring

If you’re not camping at the circuit, the area has a good transport network – though the track can be more tricky to get to than some of the others on the calendar. If you are travelling by car, the Red Bull Ring offers free parking. You can find more details about this, plus the alternate public transport on offer by reading Getting Around.

Racing in the Mountains

The Red Bull Ring has been Austria’s sole Formula 1 venue since 1970 and will continue to host the Austrian Grand Prix until 2027 under a new deal signed with Formula 1 in 2023. There’s always a nostalgic spark at the Spielberg track. Surrounded by mountains, the area around the circuit is particularly picturesque at this time of year.

If you have some time to spare during your trip, hiking in the mountains is highly recommended – though there are plenty of more relaxing options on offer! We’ve rounded up the best places to see and things to do in Graz and the wider Styria region during your visit to the 2025 Austrian Grand Prix in Off-Track Activities.

Packed Support Schedule at the 2025 Austrian Grand Prix

The Red Bull Ring offers one of the best trackside experiences of the season. The event is well organised, and the support race schedule for the race weekend is usually packed. Formula 1’s main feeder series Formula 2 & Formula 3 have already been confirmed to race at the 2025 Austrian Grand Prix, and will be joined by the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup.

Another popular on-track activity at the Red Bull Ring is the Legends Parade, where legendary drivers are paired with historic cars. In 2024, the parade celebrated former winners of the Austrian Grand Prix and their race-winning machinery. Taking part were Emerson Fittipaldi, Johnny Herbert, David Coulthard and Gerhard Berger. Details of this year’s Legends Parade have not yet been announced.

Don’t forget – you can access the pit lane on Thursday at the Red Bull Ring, with tickets for the pit lane walk now on sale at the price of €35. The event does sell out, so be sure to secure your access as soon as possible! You can find more details about the pit lane walk and all the vital information about watching the race, including on-track session times, in Trackside.
