Jack Miller’s MotoGP future is once again in doubt. His Pramac team have confirmed the signing of Toprak Razgatlioglu for 2026.
Pramac were initially expected to wait until next weekend’s race at Mugello before announcing Razgatlioglu’s arrival. But the swoop for the reigning World Superbikes champion was made official on Tuesday afternoon.
Suppliers Yamaha simply said that further details about Pramac’s line-up would be announced in ‘due course’. It will be bad news for either Miller or Miguel Oliveira.
While he signed a two-year deal last winter, Oliveira isn’t meeting a performance clause in his contract, having missed four races through injury. Miller’s contract only runs until the end of the season.
Oliveira has been given an ultimatum – meet the requirement in the coming weeks, or he could lose his seat. That in turn may determine whether Miller remains on the MotoGP grid, a year after KTM let him go.
Jack Miller could join Honda World Superbikes project under leadership of Cal Crutchlow
According to Sky Italy, a market is now emerging for Miller. He has a three-year contract on the table from Honda’s World Superbikes arm.
Ironically, there was talk that Razgatlioglu could race for Honda in WSBK next year before representing them in MotoGP from 2027. But Yamaha won the battle in the end.
Miller’s first choice will naturally be to remain in the premier class, but the presence of Cal Crutchlow would make the Honda project more enticing. They want to appoint the Yamaha test rider as their team manager.
There is a close friendship and ‘mutual respect’ between Miller and Crutchlow. It would be a surprising reunion, but one that looks increasingly feasible.
What Yamaha are ‘expected’ to do with Jack Miller after re-signing Toprak Razgatlioglu
In a recent interview, Crutchlow revealed that he regularly texts Miller during race weekends. That’s a sign that their bond remains strong.
Miller could certainly feel hard done by if he doesn’t receive a new contract. He’s been the second-best rider on the M1 this season behind the stratospheric Fabio Quartararo.
Indeed, there’s an argument that Miller should replace Alex Rins at the Yamaha factory team. Unfortunately for the Australian, Rins is protected by his contract.
Motorsport.com claim that Yamaha are ‘expected’ to keep Miller at Pramac and let Oliveira go. That’s encouraging for his many supporters, but a final decision hasn’t been made.
