Antoine Griezmann has agreed to a new one-year extension with Atletico Madrid, committing his future to the club until June 2027.
Griezmann, now 34, returned to Atletico permanently in 2022 after a season-long loan from Barcelona.
His first spell with the Madrid side ran from 2014 to 2019 before he moved to Barca in a €120 million deal.
During his time at Atletico, Griezmann has become the club’s all-time leading goalscorer with 197 goals and sits eighth in the club’s all-time appearances chart, having featured in 442 games.
His trophy haul with Atletico includes the Spanish Super Cup, the Europa League, and the Super Cup.
He also played a pivotal role in the club’s run to the 2016 Champions League final, which ended in defeat to Real Madrid.
The 2018 World Cup winner has previously spoken about his desire to eventually end his career in the United States.

Speculation about a move stateside was fuelled in August 2024, when Olivier Giroud said he was confident that his former France team-mate would eventually join him in Major League Soccer, specifically at LAFC.
Giroud said at the time: “One day for sure he will come. It would be amazing, crazy, to have him also in the team with Hugo (Lloris) after what we achieved for France. Playing in the same team would be crazy. I can’t imagine.”
Griezmann stepped away from international football in September 2024 following France’s elimination in the Euro 2024 semi-final against Spain.
In his 137 appearances for Les Bleus, he netted 44 goals, including six during Euro 2016, where he won the Golden Boot as the tournament’s top scorer.
This past season, Griezmann made 53 appearances in all competitions for Atletico, scoring 16 goals and providing nine assists.
