Ducati have been the class of the MotoGP field as expected throughout the 2025 MotoGP season, courtesy of strong performances from the Marquez brothers.
Whether it’s the GP24 or the GP25, Ducati seem to have always had a bike inside the top three this campaign.
Without some frustrating mistakes, Marc Marquez may have been over 50 points ahead of his nearest competitor by now.
There are still 14 rounds of the MotoGP season to go, but already, it seems as if the title race has been decided. The nearest non-Ducati rider to the top is Johann Zarco, who is 136 points behind after eight events.
Marquez has told Ducati not to help his brother and would rather Alex doesn’t receive new parts for the rest of the campaign. He sees him as a threat.
Ducati rivals are finding it ‘difficult’ to copy Marquez because his approach to some tracks and specific corners is so unique. It’s why he has been so triumphant in the premier class.
Ducati’s ‘greatest advantage’ cannot be copied during the 2025 MotoGP season
Marquez can become ‘unbeatable’ at Ducati and he has shown in swathes just how dominant he can be this season.
However, despite his strong form, Marquez is apologetic behind the scenes and has been very humble about his performances.
Ex-Aprilia technical director, Jan Witteveen, has now shared why Ducati have a ‘clear’ advantage for Marquez that their rivals can’t copy.
“Ducati now has a clear technological advantage over its competitors,” he told GPOne. “And the other manufacturers can’t copy Ducati’s greatest advantage, which is its exclusive desmodromic valve system.
“This desmodromic valve timing system has the advantage of requiring less energy than other trains. Ducati can, therefore, use the energy they save in competitions for additional power or to reduce fuel consumption. This means that the Desmosedici motorcycles always have a technical advantage.
“Even if the advantage isn’t that significant that their rivals are left without a chance, Ducati has a motorcycle that’s fast and competitive in all weather conditions, on all tracks, on all types of asphalt.”

Will anyone be able to catch Marc Marquez in 2025?
If Marquez continues to benefit from the development of the GP25, while his brother is on the GP24, the title should be signed, sealed and delivered in advance of the final races of the season.
Marquez’s mother has ‘suffered’ as a result of her sons and the sacrifices they have made to reach the top level.
Now, she is able to sit back and enjoy an incredibly rare feat with both Alex and Marc fighting for top honours at an elite level.
Marquez has been concerned by an unexpected Ducati problem, but he has shown plenty of times before that he has the ability to ride around almost anything.
