The U.S. Open has been contested each year since 1985, and its list of past champions is long and varied. From contemporary stars like Bryson DeChambeau and Rory McIlroy to game-changing icons like Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus, the U.S. Open trophy has some legendary names etched into it.
On Sunday at Oakmont, one lucky golfer will add their name to that list.
Sam Burns enters the day as the man to beat at the top of the leaderboard, but if he hopes to win his first major title, he’ll have to hold off a hungry list of contenders. Of those who enter the day inside the top 10, just one player (Adam Scott) has a major title on their resume. For whoever does end the day with their name atop the leaderboard, the title will be well earned.
What company will the eventual winner join? Below is a list of the last 30 U.S. Open winners.
