Jack Miller is one of MotoGP’s most experienced riders on the 2025 grid. The Aussie has been impressing at Yamaha, despite a disappointing points tally thus far.
Signing for Pramac on a one-year deal for 2025, the 30-year-old has adapted quickly to the YZR-M1. Yamaha have been ‘nothing but positive’ about Miller and his impact on the manufacturer behind the scenes.
However, his results this season have been lacking, as he sits 16th in the standings with 29 points. Despite this, he is still Yamaha’s second-highest-ranked rider in 2025 behind Fabio Quartararo.
Three consecutive retirements in Qatar, Jerez and Le Mans cost the Pramac rider dearly. Miller admits he ‘messed up’ with his Le Mans crash as he had trusted the team to start on wet tyres and looked on course to grab victory.
Fermin Aldeguer names Jack Miller as the ‘hardest rider to battle’ in MotoGP
Despite his inconsistent results, the Aussie’s experience has been invaluable for Yamaha. Miller can provide a data bank to the manufacturer, having ridden for Honda, Ducati and KTM in the past.
The 30-year-old has also produced some standout performances on the YZR-M1. Miller was ‘exceptional’ in the wet conditions in Austin as he finished an impressive fifth.
He battled hard throughout the race, most notably with rookie Fermin Aldeguer in the closing stages. The Gresini rider produced a brilliant overtake on Miller entering turn one on lap 17, but he crashed out of the race at turn 15.
Aldeguer liked winning the battle with Miller as the pair put on a great show in the final laps of the race. Speaking via the official MotoGP YouTube channel, the Spaniard was asked who he felt was the ‘hardest rider to battle’ on the grid.
He replied: “Jack Miller. The first battle, I fight a lot with him because we was more or less in the same position and it was very difficult for me.”

What is Jack Miller’s situation at Yamaha for 2026?
The Aussie will need to find some form in the next few races. Miller is on a ‘prove-it’ contract with Yamaha as he faces the possibility of falling off the grid in 2026.
Reports are suggesting that Toprak Razgatlioglu has signed for Pramac in 2026 and will move across from World Superbikes. Miller is the obvious person the Turkish rider will be replacing, but that is not final just yet.
Miguel Oliveira has struggled with injury in 2025 and has subsequently not been producing the results compared to teammate Miller. Yamaha want to avoid a ‘very unfair’ decision with the Portuguese rider and will determine their 2026 line-up over the summer break.
But Oliveira may be at a disadvantage when it comes to securing his seat for next season. Miller is receiving ‘protection’ from Carlos Ezpeleta, as the Dorna CEO wants to keep an Australian rider on the grid.
