Fermin Aldeguer is tipped as one of MotoGP’s rising stars of the future. He is hoping to make a name for himself at the factory Ducati team.
The Spaniard is in his debut season in the premier class with Gresini. Teammate Alex Marquez has established himself as a title contender, winning his first two races, including Sprints, in MotoGP this year.
Aldeguer had a slow start to life in MotoGP, but has been progressing at a rapid rate since the Americas Grand Prix. Despite falling from his bike in the tricky conditions, he displayed his potential by reaching Q2 for the first time and challenging for top positions.
Aldeguer hit out at ‘noise’ surrounding his place in the premier class, which he has since silenced with some standout performances. The 20-year-old grabbed his first podiums in MotoGP at Le Mans, finishing third in the Sprint and Grand Prix.
He has quickly established himself as a top talent on the grid. While he is impressing at Gresini, Aldeguer has his eyes set on a move to Ducati come 2027.
Fermin Aldeguer would rather have ‘more pressure’ as Marc Marquez’s teammate at Ducati over Francesco Bagnaia
Ducati have arguably the strongest rider line-up in MotoGP history in 2025, with Marc Marquez and Francesco Bagnaia boasting eight championships between them.
The latter hoped to reclaim his crown in 2025 after losing to Jorge Martin last year by 10 points, despite winning more than half of the Grand Prix. However, he has been second-best to Marquez by some distance.
Bagnaia is struggling with the GP25 as he constantly complains about having no feeling in the front end of the bike. Meanwhile, teammate Marquez has claimed nine wins and is 24 points ahead of brother Alex and 72 points in front of Bagnaia.
With the Ducati riders’ contracts up in 2026, there is a possibility that a seat could be available come 2027. Pedro Acosta highly doubts Bagnaia will be dropped amid his poor form, but Aldeguer is hopeful of a move to the team and to partner Marquez.
Asked by MotoGP’s official YouTube channel which team he would race for if he could not choose Gresini, the Spaniard replied: “Ducati Lenovo, with Marc. More pressure!”

Marc Marquez has dominated every MotoGP teammate
The Gresini rider will have access to Marquez’s data at Ducati and can learn from the legendary rider. However, Aldeguer does not see anything ‘stratospheric’ from the 32-year-old telemetry.
Being Marquez’s teammate has proved difficult for any rider throughout his MotoGP career. The Spaniard was immediately on the pace of Dani Pedrosa when he joined Honda in 2013.
Marc Marquez | Dani Pedrosa | |
Wins | 56 | 9 |
Poles | 63 | 7 |
Podiums | 95 | 41 |
Best position | 1st (6x) | 3rd (2013) |
Pedrosa, despite being a title contender, was dominated by Marquez across six seasons before leaving in 2019. Jorge Lorenzo was convincingly beaten by his fellow compatriot in 2019, before the six-time MotoGP champion suffered a season-ending injury at Jerez in 2020.
Brother Alex took the reins at Honda in his absence, before Marc Marquez returned in 2021 and beat Pol Espargaro and Joan Mir over the next three seasons as the team regressed.
The 32-year-old beat his brother at Gresini last year and is currently dominating Bagnaia at Ducati. Pedrosa hinted that Bagnaia has the same problem he had at Honda, as he struggles to compete with Marquez on the other side of the garage.
