During final preparations for the U.S. Women’s Open, Angel Yin was seen using a simple training aid that teaches proper weight transfer.

HARTFORD, Wis. — The pros — they’re just like us. Ok, maybe not just like us, but sometimes we share more in common with them than we may think.
Case in point: Angel Yin at the U.S. Women’s Open.
In addition to being one of the most personable players in golf, Yin also isn’t afraid to break out a training aid to fix her swing — even in the hours leading up to a major.
As I walked the range late Wednesday afternoon as players made their final swing adjustments ahead of the second major of the year, there was Yin striping balls. After a few warm-up swings, she went to her bag and grabbed a training aid that looked like something a weekend warrior would use.
Yin’s training aid
The training aid Yin pulled out of her bag looked like a doorstop, and she strapped it to her right (trail) foot. As it turns out, this training aid is called the Power Up Wedge and is marketed mostly toward baseball and softball players. However, it can also be used as a great golf training aid, too.
With the aid wedged underneath the inside of the trail foot, it forces you to shift your weight toward the target during the downswing. Without it, it can be easy to hang back on your trail side, leaving tons of power on the table.
There are numerous training aids in the golf space geared toward the same principle, but this was the most compact version I’ve come across. Plus, if it’s working for an LPGA Tour winner, it must work pretty well.
If you’re someone who struggles to shift their weight during the swing, a training aid like this might be just what you need. You can buy one here, or browse a similar product below.
