Marco Bezzecchi ended Aprilia’s terrible start to the 2025 MotoGP season with an exceptional victory at the British Grand Prix.
The Italian rider claimed a first win for two years, and fourth of his career, after Fabio Quartararo suffered a ride height device failure midway through the British Grand Prix.
The signs were there on Saturday for Bezzecchi, who looked like the most comfortable rider by far in race trim and almost coasted to the end.
He has handed his Aprilia team a much-needed boost after a testing time lately, particularly with the rumours about his teammate and reigning champion Jorge Martin.
Martin does have an exit clause at Aprilia, but it would be odd for him to leave the team before even completing a race for them.
Not only that, but Aprilia now face a ‘legal’ problem finding a replacement for him, as they have to wait for his contract to be resolved first.

Marco Bezzecchi deployed special ‘trick’ before British Grand Prix victory
The last time Bezzecchi won a race was back in 2023, while riding for VR46. He finished third in the championship and showed some great promise.
However, he dropped off last year and has struggled for large spells in 2025 as well. Speaking after the race, he revealed how he used a little ‘trick’ to do better at Silverstone.
“It’s always difficult to predict the gusts, but the bike performed well. The points where they arrived were always the same,” he told Sky Sport Italia.
“Like between turns three and four, a little at five and especially at 15 and at the braking point of 16. I had noticed them since the reconnaissance lap and they remained more or less for the whole race.
“You are always a little tense when there is wind, but the trick is to try to stay relaxed, even if it is not easy. Idalio Gavira (the coach) always taught me that the wind is my friend, so I tried to remember that.”
Might Marco Bezzecchi’s victory encourage Jorge Martin to stay at Aprilia?
Now that Bezzecchi has claimed a victory for Aprilia, Martin might be convinced that they do have the pace to compete at the front.
It’s the first sign that they could be contenders in the future. However, they may need to be a little more consistent first.
The main problem will be the potentially damaged relationship between both sides, which will now need to be repaired.
Martin was left surprised at an Aprilia speech after they rejected the idea of a possible exit from the team at the end of the year.
Trust will need to be rebuilt, and there’s still no guarantee that Martin will hop back onto one of their bikes ever again.
