Jack Miller thought his MotoGP career was over before Yamaha gifted the Australian a one-year factory contract to ride for their satellite outfit Pramac in the 2025 season.
The 30-year-old looked set to be left on the sidelines as the MotoGP rider market played out last year after KTM had a change of heart. As he failed to thrive on the RC16 over two terms with the Austrian squad, KTM threw Miller onto the scrap heap and promoted Pedro Acosta.
KTM had initially told Miller that they intended to retain his services to race for Tech3 in the 2025 MotoGP season. But the offer evaporated as Aprilia and Ducati exiles Maverick Vinales and Enea Bastianini joined Tech3. So, Yamaha signed Miller after joining forces with Pramac.
Gino Borsoi can imagine Jack Miller staying at Pramac despite Yamaha’s Toprak Razgatlioglu interest
Yamaha gave Miller a one-year prove it contract after poaching Pramac away from Ducati to become their de facto second factory entry. The Townsville native enjoyed a solid start, too, with P11, P13 and P5 finishes amid the first Grands Prix in Thailand, Argentina and America.

But Miller now heads into the French Grand Prix at Le Mans this weekend striving to hit reset after back-to-back point-less rounds in Qatar and Spain. He also has an uncertain future as Yamaha are rivalling Honda to sign Toprak Razgatlioglu to race for Pramac as early as 2026.

Miller is the only Yamaha rider out of contract at the end of this term, leaving his position at risk as Razgatlioglu’s heart is set on moving to MotoGP in 2026 and rates the Pramac seat as his best route. Yet Pramac team manager Gino Borsoi can imagine Miller staying next term.
Borsoi told Motosprint, laughing: “I hope so, that is, to be attractive. There is one necessary clarification, I am not interested in opening the market because we are doing a great job with the riders present today.
“Miller is doing well [and Miguel] Oliveira has not had the opportunity to express performance, he will do so. Miguel was perhaps ready for Jerez, but without training.
“The muscles and resistance required by MotoGP are severe, so the Portuguese avoided exaggeration and a premature return. It would be incorrect to talk about the market and changes. Jack and Miguel can continue with us next year.”
Pramac need Jack Miller to bounce back, whilst welcoming Miguel Oliveira back from injury at Le Mans
Miller crashed out of the Spanish GP at Jerez last time out after spending most of the race in the top 10. Fabio Quartararo also showed the potential of the M1 when the conditions work in Yamaha’s favour as the factory star, under contract through 2026, took pole and came P2.

Pramac now need Miller to bounce back and earn some points in the French GP at Le Mans, with the Tuscan squad last in the teams’ standings on 24 points. The Australian is also P16 in the riders’ standings with 19 points, as the second-best Yamaha to Quartararo in P6 with 50.
Oliveira has so far only contested one round of the 2025 MotoGP season and came 14th in the Thai Grand Prix. The 30-year-old is due to return to action at Le Mans after sustaining a sternoclavicular dislocation in a collision with Fermin Aldeguer in the Argentina Sprint Race.
