PGA Tour pro Michael Kim has become a fan favorite for sharing unfiltered, behind-the-scenes stories from the PGA Tour. And on Tuesday, Kim dropped a doozy, sharing a bizarre mystery about an unfortunate mishap in an on-course bathroom at a recent event.

Kim’s 2025 hot streak

Kim, 31, earned his PGA Tour card for the first time all the way back in 2016. He quickly won his first and, as of now, only PGA Tour win at the 2018 John Deere Classic.

But his career went on a downward trajectory from there, and eventually Kim lost his Tour card following the 2020-21 season.

But after a year back on the Korn Ferry Tour, Kim regained his full Tour status. He also started posting frequently on X, and his fame rose quickly.

This season, his play on the course started to match his high profile online. He earned a runner-up finish at the 2025 WM Phoenix Open and fourth at the Signature Event Arnold Palmer Invitational among three top-10s in 13 starts.

One benefit of his strong play in 2025? His FedEx Cup ranking (currently 18th) and improved world ranking have earned him spots in all of the biggest tournaments, including the 2025 Masters where he finished T27.

It also earned him a place in the RBC Heritage, the Signature Event that occurred the week after the Masters. And it’s at the RBC Heritage where Kim’s mystery originated.

PGA Tour porta-potty puzzle

After a brief hiatus from X in April, Kim returned to posting this week, and on Tuesday night, he shared a story that I recommend not reading while eating breakfast.

Kim’s began his post writing, “Story from Hilton Head,” and then got into the heart of the matter.

According to Kim, an unnamed caddie ventured into one of the on-course portable toilets at Harbour Town Golf Links, the longtime Heritage host course located in Hilton Head Island, S.C.

And once inside the porta potty, the caddie-in-question happened upon the aftermath of someone else’s emergency. In the corner of the comfort station, he found a heavily soiled pair of “boxer briefs,” which Kim denoted with a fitting emoji.

“There are player/caddie only porta potties near tee boxes,” Kim wrote. “One caddie went to use one on Thursday morning and in the corner of the porta potty, sees a pair of boxer briefs with some 💩.”

Based on Kim’s recounting of the incident, a low-level investigation was performed, but in the end they “couldn’t figure it out.”

Someone even noted the brand of the underwear and matched it to a player who was sponsored by the brand, but Kim said, “it was proven that it wasn’t him lol.”

Story from Hilton head:

While the portable toilets were restricted to caddies and players, one could imagine a spectator or volunteer breaking that rule in an emergency situation such as this.

But it appears the investigation stopped there, which is probably for the best. Whoever was responsible for the porta-potty incident clearly had a very bad day, likely through no fault of their own, and doesn’t deserve a public shaming.

As for Kim, he has another Signature Event on the schedule this week at the Truist Championship, before heading to Quail Hollow for the 2025 PGA Championship.
