This week, we’re in for a bit of a treat on the PGA Tour, as the sixth Signature Event of the year heads to a new venue: the Wissahickon course at Philadelphia Cricket Club.
Without any prior data to pull from, no one really knows what to expect from the field this week. The course played ultra-tough when it hosted the PGA Tour Champions in 2016, but this week, weather could have an impact, potentially softening what promises to be a major-style setup.
Rory McIlroy is back in action this week and is the betting favorite. Last week’s winner, World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, is not playing.
Subpar podcast co-host and CBS Sports on-course reporter Colt Knost said that for his Fanatics Sportsbook pick for the week, he is favoring a player who closed with a sizzling Sunday round in Texas.

“I don’t know much about this golf course,” he said. “I’m just going off a guy who I know is starting to feel more and more comfortable with his game, starting to play really well, coming off a final-round 62 at the Byron Nelson. I believe he’s got three or four straight top 20s. I’m gonna take him as a top-10 bet at +250: the golden child, Jordan Spieth.”
Knost’s co-host Drew Stoltz said he’s more familiar with the course and believes accuracy off the tee will be the key to success. Like Knost, Stoltz also went with a top-10 pick.
“Distance, of course, is always great, but like I think you gotta play from the fairway if you’re gonna really get after this place,” he said. “So I’m picking a guy that hits a lot of fairways, hits a lot of great iron shots too, not the longest in the world, but this is one of the places where I don’t think that matters as much.
“Give me Sepp Straka, top 10, +350.”
Rory McIlroy is the betting favorite to win at +400. Collin Morikawa has the next-best odds at +1400.
